Yours Truly Are Officially Back with “Call My Name”
Article by Isabel Dowell
Coming out of Sydney, Australia, Yours Truly releases their first new music since 2022 with “Call My Name”. The trio, Mikaila Delgado (vocals), Teddie Winder-Haron (guitar), and Henry Beard (drums), are said to be polished, precise, and hauntingly vulnerable. We couldn’t agree more. Each lyric, melody, and instrument you hear is calculated to perfect your listening experience.
"'Call My Name’ is about the internal struggles of being addicted to a person that you know is bad for you," shares frontwoman Mikaila. "You turn away from all their red flags because you have so much hope that they can be the person you created in your dreams. You defend them and begin to blame yourself. I realized that we as people crave acceptance from the people who make us feel we are not enough and on the other side some people use that power to their advantage. At the end of the day you realize some things aren’t meant to be and you need to make peace with that.”
“Call My Name” marks a transformation for Yours Truly. Since releasing their last piece of music in 2022, an EP titled is this what i look like?, the trio has been moving from their pop punk genre and into a world of music that is unexpected, dramatic, and much more emo. The accompanying visual for this track shows an ethereal, yet isolated Mikaila, singing about her aforementioned struggles. In times where we are fighting for someone who isn’t good for us, and when we can feel that shame from all sides, loneliness kicks in.
“Call My Name” is out now via UNFD and is just the start of this new period of discovery for Yours Truly. We are personally excited to be along for the ride.
