Wallows in Detroit

For over a decade, Dylan Minnette (guitar/vocals), Braeden Lemasters (guitar/vocals), and Cole Preston (drums) have been creating and sharing their alt-rock inspired music with audiences across the globe. It wasn’t until 2017 that these three debuted as the band we know now as Wallows with their first single, “Pleaser”. This track would reach number two on the Spotify Global Viral 50 chart, number one on the KROQ Locals Only playlist, and mark the beginning of a very successful career for these LA natives.

On August 31, 2024, Wallows brought their third headlining tour, the Model World Tour, to the MI Lottery Amphitheatre in Sterling Heights, Michigan. With support from New Zealand pop star BENEE, the Model World tour showcased Wallows’ latest album, Model, with a mix of favorites from previous LPs and fan-favorite singles. Halfway through the set, the trio moved to the B-stage set just between the pavilion and lawn seats. This part of the show featured “Pictures of Girls”, “Drunk on Halloween”, and “OK” amongst a bedroom inspired set-up.

On the way back to the main stage, Lemasters joined fans on the lawn to perform “Worlds Apart”, followed by Minnette jumping on the barricade to allow fans to play his guitar during “Pleaser”. The 24-song set ended with an encore of “Are You Bored Yet?”, “Only Ecstasy”, and the echoing cheers of fans that rushed out of their seats to watch the band drive away in their buses.

The most beautiful parts of fangirl culture are alive and well in the world of Wallows. Spirits were high from the moment fans began lining up earlier than morning until the last car filled with fans left the lot. It was a great experience to be a part of and measures up to the success that Wallows deserves. The American leg of the Model World Tour ends in Los Angeles on September 12, before picking back up again in Europe and U.K. for the month of October and making its way to Australia in December. The Model World Tour is rumored to continue through 2025, however, dates have not yet been announced.
