Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Isabel Dumaa released her first EP, Just My Nature. The project consists of seven tracks and released to acclaim in the indie sphere!

While the EP was written primarily by Dumaa, the songs were produced and mastered by the power-houses that had previously worked with Role Model, Post Malone, Kacey Musgraves, and Beyoncé. The LA-based artist officially debuted in 2022 but sky-rocked to indie fame in 2023 with her single, now featured on the EP “Quarter Life Crisis.” A track about adulthood, being left on your own, and how it feels to be left with no direction.

The theme of growing up and adulthood continues with track three, “Price Of Getting Older,” a piano ballad that has a cinematic build with synth and kick drums to accompany the sweeping melody. The track chronicles the feeling of regret, being between adulthood and childhood and all the things Dumaa had wished she had done but hadn’t, specifically all the things she wishes she had told her mother. Sonically, the song resembles that of “Falling” by Harry Styles with a mix of “Sun Bleached Flies” by Ethel Cain.

The rest of Just My Nature takes listeners through a variety of other narratives. “Different” follows similar themes as the last, dissecting a relationship of missteps and how it could’ve ended if the two had handled things “differently,” and how the other has left an impact on her still. “Enough For You” continues the narrative of this relationship, describing how she felt like she wasn’t good enough for who we could assume is the former partner. The last song, appropriately titled “The End,” is an acoustic guitar ballad tracing the end of both of the EP and the experience of accepting that even though a relationship with your person may be over, that impact, memories, and experience will stay with you forever: “I meant what I said, no matter how far you wandеr - It's us until the end.”

Retrospectively, Isabel Dumaa’s Just My Nature, is a revelation in the indie world. The themes of adulthood and change resonate hard, especially during this time of feeling like a 20-year-old-teenager. For fans of Gracie Abrahms, Lizzy McAlpine, and Taylor - Isabel Dumaa will be a welcome artist in your rotation of indie pop-girlies.
