The Script in Pittsburgh
The Script, an Irish band fresh off the release of their new album, “Satellites,” is currently on tour! They created a wonderful space to feel and listen to their songs current to dating back to 2008.
There were many lighthearted moments, such as when they mentioned that they were planning to play a song off of their first album. They told the crowd it “wasn’t one of the good ones,” and then played “A Man Who Can’t Be Moved.” The crowd, including me collectively disagreed and sang the song word for word.
One of the heaviest parts of the set was when lead singer, Danny O’Donoghue, talked about the passing of founding member, Mark Sheehan. O’Donoghue shared how they are continuing his legacy and Ben Weaver is playing his iconic guitar parts. One of the most heartbreaking parts of their set was O’Donoghue mentioned how him and Sheehan wrote “If You Can See Me Now” for their late parents. Now, he was standing on the stage alone singing to this same song to him as well.
The Script’s performance, overall, was emotional and felt like a safe space to feel. They said to “talk to the people around you because if they listen to The Script, they would probably get along with you.” For their last song, “Hall Of Fame,” they said to light the room because they wanted the fans to light them. This sentiment was a beautiful way to end the evening.
