sofi tukker in Chicago
Sofi Tukker made their triumphant return to Chicago with the BREAD tour. The New York based duo, made up of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, brought their headlining tour to the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom to a sold-out crowd and ended the night with a set at Tao.
Both Sophie and Tucker are best-friends, roommates, and collaborators. Their music has a signature aesthetic that is easily identifiable - the tropical beats, portuguese, and plucky guitar lines come together to make Sofi Tukker’s signature house music. Even if you don’t think you know them by name, the duo has produced countless recognizable hits that have been featured in soundtracks for movies and TV - including “Drinkee,” “Batshit,” and “Best Friend.” The two also rose to prominence in the EDM world with the hit “Purple Hat.”
The tour embarks fresh off their newest album BREAD, which stands for “be really energetic and dance.” Needless to say, Sofi Tukker inspires this energy with their music and even more with their live shows. Whether it be Lollapalooza or a theatre, a Sofi Tukker show is more than just a concert. Their performances are made up of elaborate sets, dancers hailing from all over the world, and showcases of both Sophie and Tucker’s immense talents. Throughout their set both members of the duo showed off vocals, dance moves, and chops as multi-instrumentalists.
The setlist for the BREAD tour truly has something for everyone, including their aforementioned hits, instant classics off BREAD - including “Woof,” “Throw Some Ass,” and “Hey Homie” - and festival crowd pleasers like “Brazilian Soul,” “Rennaissance,” and “Original Sin.”
Sofi Tukker’s BREAD Tour is one you won’t want to miss. The duo truly brings the party and if you’re missing festival season Sofi Tukker will bring the festival to you.
