°1824 and a range of publications, including Thirteen Magazine, welcomed the North Carolina-born singer, songwriter, and actress, Reneé Rapp with a round of welcoming praise and love in a recent press conference preceding the release of her debut full-length record, Snow Angel. Not a stranger to music, Rapp knew she wanted to perform ever since she was a child. As she grew up, she took a break from music to act, before returning with her debut single in 2022, “Tattoos”.
Now, Reneé Rapp has taken over the internet. Her debut tour sold out in minutes, she has amassed over 200 million streams and counting, and is a recognizable face on televisions across the world. Her fall tour, cleverly titled the “Snow Hard Feelings Tour”, kicks off in September with support from Alexander 23 and Towa Bird in North America.
°1824’s press conference was geared directly towards the fans and jumped right into the conversation, allowing publications and their members to ask Rapp questions ranging from her journey from high school theater to Broadway, TV, and music, to balancing her many projects and accomplishments, and ending it with what song from Snow Angel speaks the most to Rapp’s current stage in her life.
A few highlights from the press conference include:
Learning about the impact that women in the industry have had on Rapp.
Rapp proclaims that her personality and the way she navigates the world is a product of the people she surrounds herself with. Rapp gave a special shoutout to Aaliyah, who not only directs music videos and sings background vocals on Rapp’s music, but is also her best friend. Rapp also mentioned that she feels spoiled by the many women and non-male figures in her life who have helped shape her into who she is today.
Assigning Snow Angels tracks to Rapp’s Big 3 Astrology Signs.
Gemini Rising - “TALK TOO MUCH”
Capricorn Sun - “Poison Poison”
Pisces Moon - “I Wish”
Deciphering Rapp’s confidence from her delusion.
While Rapp’s definition of delusion isn’t the social media-esque, “slay” version as she puts it, it helps her overcome her doubts and inevitably leads her to accomplishing whatever she wants. It has become a “hunger to do something that [she] loves so much”. Rapp marks delusion and confidence as a good thing, especially as a woman in the industry, she uses these emotions to fuel her careers and ambitions.
“Delusion is like my little BFF. I love it.” - Reneé Rapp
Finding out where Rapp’s fashion inspiration comes from.
Rapp states that while most of her fashion looks come from her stylist and stylist’s assistant, she describes her personal taste as “everything but the kitchen sink”. Some days she feels feminine, some masculine, and sometimes both in one day. Overall, she enjoys portraying looks that encapsulate her personality from day to do.
And Understanding how her sexuality impacts her music and journey thus far.
Being out and an open member of the LGBT+ community has given Rapp the confidence to do more and be more herself. Being open and being accepted by her fans has allowed her to feel more comfortable, uplifted, and “cooler to be gay”.
Snow Angel is out now! Be sure to catch Reneé Rapp’s “Snow Hard Feelings Tour” around North American and the UK starting this fall.
