Quinn XCII in Los Angeles
Quinn XCII served up a beautiful menu at his Denver show in support of his new EP, Lunch. The indie pop artist has taken recent inspiration from the culinary world, creating three EPs aptly titled Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner (Dinner to release later this year). He even partnered with local food banks and Conscious Alliance on his All You Can Eat tour to aid in their mission to combat world hunger, a fitting sentiment for the wholesome themes of his lyrics.
The stage was dressed with restaurant iconography such as familiar black and white tiles and tablecloth textures as well as a neon sign behind him reading “Mustard Mike’s.” He opened with his older hits such as “Stacey” and “Autopilot”, before moving into recent crowd favorites from Lunch like “Melt” and “Unconditional.” The smaller venue of Denver’s Fillmore Theater served his new music perfectly, as it provided a more intimate atmosphere for the EP’s homegrown feel compared to his larger sets from the past year at such venues as Red Rocks Amphitheater. Everyone already knew all the lyrics to his new music despite their recent release just a few weeks ago, further adding to the communal environment. Between songs, he consistently expressed his gratitude for the support he’s received and for the positive reception of his even more positive music, shouting out his fans and multiple family members who were in attendance. With the positive, upbeat atmosphere Quinn created for his concert and EP, there was something on the menu for everyone at Mustard Mike’s.
