In 2023, she was named YouTube’s Trending Artist on the Rise, supported by the likes of DIY Magazine, Billboard MTV, Atwood, BBC, Ones To Watch, Stereogum, The Independent, Dork, and Wonderland, grew her listeners by over 3 million, and gained over 300,000 dedicated fans. Paris Paloma is now gearing up for the biggest year of her career with the release of a new single, “my mind (now)”, the announcement of her debut album, Cacophony, and will be supporting Maisie Peters on her European tour this February.
“my mind (now)” is a melodic folk-pop track covering Paloma’s struggles with OCD, anxiety, and past trauma. Listeners are drawn to Paloma’s vivid storytelling and hauntingly honest and relatable lyricism. “my mind (now) explores all of this and more, combining influences of dark pop, folk, and indie music. Layered, repeating vocals and an ever growing echo highlights the tenderness of emotion Paloma has poured into this single.
“my mind (now) is about the BC and the AD of trauma, and what it did to my mental state, the feeling that an event was so cataclysmic that it rearranged the chemical makeup of my mind. The song is a reflection of my struggle with OCD and anxiety as a response to traumatic events, and the electrical storm of emotions that exists inside my head, filling it with noise that never seems to leave, as I search for a few seconds of respite and quiet from it. It is also about the power other people hold to set that trauma into motion, and both the fragility and strength of the human mind. ‘my mind (now)’ is an embodiment of the act of creation in the form of art and writing as a coping mechanism that comes out of the overwhelming noise and chaos of the mind,” shares Paloma.
Cacophony seems to be the theme of Paloma’s upcoming music, hence the title of her debut album. You’ll find the ever present mixture of sounds in each of her tracks. Whether it’s superimposed lyrics, natural instrumentals, thoughtful storytelling, or all of the above, Paris Paloma is going to create your next favorite song.
“my mind (now)” is available to stream now and her debut album, Cacophony, will be released on August 30, 2024. Catch her on tour with Maisie Peters this winter and make sure to keep an eye out for even more dates as we approach her album’s release.
