Melanie Martinez in Toronto
The Trilogy Tour at Scotiabank Arena was simply one of the best performances I have ever seen. As someone who has been a fan of Melanie for about 8 years, from Crybaby to K-12, the Trilogy Tour felt like an ode to my younger self and who I am now. The sensational artist is more than just a singer; she takes the time to create new worlds for her albums. This makes fans even more excited because although they get to listen to the songs, they also get to be a part of her world.
Melanie’s ability to create a different world is showcased through her set designs, costumes, and backup dancers. When she performed songs from K-12 (her second album), the choreography depicted a playful demeanor. As the dancers played and danced together, the crowd had been transported into the whimsical world of K-12.
Melanie’s vocals were nothing short of captivating and entrancing. She effortlessly moved from slower ballads to more "dramatic" and powerful songs, showcasing her extreme vocal range. Accompanied by her dancers and set design, Melanie achieved huge crowd engagement, as viewers jumped, danced, and sang their hearts out to her songs.
Whether you are a new fan or an old-timer like me, a Melanie Martinez show is just what everybody needs. She gives people the chance to dress up and be themselves and puts on a heck of a show.
