Indie rock band Inhaler features Elijah Hewson on lead guitar and vocals, Josh Jenkinson on guitar, Robert Keating on bass, and Ryan McMahon on drums. The group recently released their third album, Open Wide, and are following it up with a highly anticipated world tour. After wrapping up the first UK leg of their tour, Inhaler traveled across the country and immediately began playing shows in Canada and the United States.
Despite the chilly temperature outside the beautiful Brooklyn Paramount in New York, dedicated Inhaler superfans were not deterred from queueing up all day for the best spots in the venue. At 7pm, the doors finally opened and thousands of fans were let into the building.
New York-based rock band Been Stellar kicked off the night and did a fantastic job of lifting the crowd’s energy and getting everyone to dance. The group played hits like “Pumpkin” in addition to a couple of unreleased songs. They had great stage presence and are definitely an act to watch!
Inhaler went on next and opened their set with “My Honest Face” from their 2021 album, It Won’t Always Be Like This. The fans’ collective and enthusiastic screaming and jumping was a strong testament to Inhaler’s ability to connect with their crowd. The band did a great job of making some of their newest songs come to life, including “Eddie in the Darkness,” “A Question of You,” and “Even Though,”while also featuring lots of older songs like “When It Breaks” and “Who’s Your Money On? (Plastic House).” During the crowd favorite hit “Dublin in Ecstasy,” Elijah came up against the barricade and let one of the fans sing into the microphone, which caused the audience to erupt into cheers. A giant Ireland flag was also revealed right before the song began, which was a great additional touch.
After wrapping up their set, the band left briefly before the lights dimmed once again and they returned for an encore, which included the songs “Open Wide,” “It Won’t Always Be Like This,” and “Your House.” I had made my way to the back of the venue during this portion of the show, and it was really heartwarming to see everyone smiling and dancing with each other under the flashing lights.
This was my second time seeing Inhaler live and they are absolutely one of the best acts in the indie rock scene right now! They are a must see for anyone who loves a good night out.
