Hotel Fiction in Chicago

Athens, Georgia based duo Hotel Fiction brought their Staring At The Sun Tour to Chicago’s The Hideout, with their first ever sold out headline show.

The indie rock/pop duo expanded their lineup since forming in 2019, bringing on Aaron Daugherty to support all things guitar/synth/and vocals, Aidan Hill on bass, and Gideon Johnston on drums. The five-piece embarked on a two month long tour, Chicago almost at the halfway point, just two months after the release of their latest record, Staring At The Sun. Which marks their official sophomore album.

The current tour is a treat for both fans old and new, who were already sporting the bands merch before the set even started. The band thrived in the intimate venue, with their nostalgic ethereal synth rock filling the space. The two front women, Jess and Jade, looked flat out awesome in matching denim outfits and glittery makeup. The two were able to show off their talents both as vocalists and multi-instrumentalists. Switching between guitar and keyboard, all while serving powerful vocals and giving fans in the crowd an exciting performance. The setlist mostly consisted of songs off their newest project but it wouldn’t be a Hotel Fiction show without some fan favorites like 2022 hit, “Man On The Moon”!

It was truly a memorable night. Hotel Fiction brought the house down at The Hideout and I, as well as other Chicago fans, cannot wait for them to come back and show off what they have in store next.

If you’re a fan of bands like Boygenius, Wet Leg, and Wolf Alice - Hotel Fiction may just be your new favorite band, and you still have plenty of chances to see them at the rest of their tour stops across the US this fall.
