BIZZY’s “When It Ends” Is Written From The Heart

Article by Isabel Dowell

BIZZY is known as the shoulder to lean on, the voice that is bold enough to say what everyone else is thinking, and the entertainingly ‘hot-mess’ of a friend that everyone needs. She knows no strangers; she’s your biggest hype girl, your best friend and your closest confidante. Now, she’s releasing her latest single, “When It Ends”, via Big Loud Rock, that will pull you even closer to BIZZY and the emotional rollercoaster we all face when navigating life as a young adult.

On “When It Ends”, BIZZY shares, “Sometimes, when things seem to be going well from an outside perspective, I find myself grappling with the overwhelming fear that all I’ve worked so hard for may vanish. ‘When It Ends’ is the fearful whisper to my loved ones, asking them if I loosen my white knuckle grip and things hit the fan, will they still be there for me at the end?”

Born in D.C. and now Nashville-based, BIZZY is a storyteller that holds absolutely nothing back. She writes from the heart and her music is filled with palpable angst, clever, diaristic lyricism, and catchy hooks. “When It Ends” is BIZZY’s first release since her debut EP, I Don’t Get Breakups, a 6-track emotional journey chronicling her first heartbreak and the self-discovery that follows. I Don’t Get Breakups was featured on SiriusXM Hits 1’s Hitboard, was championed by Jason Kramer of KCW, earned praise from Ones To Watch, which lead her to signing her first record deal with Big Loud Rock and touring in direct support of the acclaimed duo FRENSHIP on a run through 15+ major U.S. cities.

Whether you need an anthem to scream to or a song to cry to, BIZZY has it all. Her fresh perspective and relatable storytelling is why we love her and we are excited to have had the opportunity to chat with her about “When It Ends” and what is on the horizon for this singer-songwriter. Read more about it below!

THIRTEEN: Hi BIZZY! Thank you so much for chatting with us. Could you tell us a little bit more about you?

BIZZY: I never know how to answer this question, haha. My name is BIZZY, I’m 5'8, I like long walks on the beach. Ok, I’ll shut up, but um yea, I’m a singer-songwriter from DC. I have always wanted to be an artist, but was scared shitless to put my music out, up until about a year and a half ago when I forced myself to do it (even if I was scared). And here we are!

THIRTEEN: “When It Ends” is your latest release since your EP, I Don’t Get Breakups. What is the story behind this track?

BIZZY: “When it Ends” is one of my favorite songs I’ve written. I wrote it in a place of such fear. It felt like everything was going so well in my life, and instead of enjoying it, I was busy being scared to lose it. It felt like everything was in my control and if I made one wrong move I would mess it all up, and everyone would leave. So this song was kind of a desperate cry to my family and friends, saying if everything in my life crumbles, will you stay and will you love me.

THIRTEEN: Of course, “When It Ends” is only able to detail your personal experience when dealing with the anxieties of young adulthood, but how do you hope listeners will be able to relate?

BIZZY: I think as humans we all go through different experiences, but on a base level we all feel the same emotions. So I think my biggest hope in this song is that it will give listeners a friend. Someone who will stay during the hard times and will be with you when you're crying on the floor.

THIRTEEN: When it comes to being vulnerable, is this something that comes easier for you or do you find it to be a struggle?

BIZZY: It's funny because my answer completely depends on if I have a guitar in my hand. The second I’m writing music it’s impossible for me not to be vulnerable, but as soon as it’s just me out in my everyday life it’s something I for sure struggle with, which is why I think I love/need songwriting so much. It helps me sort through my feelings honestly.

THIRTEEN: With the accolades your EP received and now releasing more music, what future projects do you have in mind?

BIZZY: I have soooo much more music I want to put out into the world. I want to tour and meet fans! Ugh, I just wanna do it all!

THIRTEEN: You’ve spent some time writing music for other musicians. How do you decide which songs to keep and which to pass along to others?

BIZZY: It’s usually very clear when I’m writing for other artists. I try to place myself in their shoes and write from their perspective instead of mine.  I want to focus on telling their story.

THIRTEEN: Your career really skyrocketed after you posted a clip of your song, “Anybody”, on TikTok. Do you remember your initial thoughts before you made that post? What did you expect would happen?

BIZZY: Hahaha, holy smokes, yeah I didn’t expect anything. I was late for work and just posted that clip on a whim and it blew up. It was crazy.  I’m so incredibly grateful that it did though, because it gave me a platform and allowed people to find my music, which is AWESOME!

THIRTEEN: What advice would you give to other singer-songwriters who are hoping to get their start in the music industry?

BIZZY: Put yourself out there. I look stupid about 75% of my life, but it’s usually in those moments that something cool happens.

THIRTEEN: As you release more music, what direction do you hope to take your sound in? Are you interested in some experimentation or do you feel set in your genre?

BIZZY: Omg yes! I want to experiment with all types of sound and genres. I never go into my writing trying to write a certain genre or sound. I just go in trying to be as vulnerable as possible and try to write to that feeling and emotion. So honestly who knows what kinda music I’ll put out in the future. It’s a mystery to me as much as you.

THIRTEEN: What plans do you have for the rest of 2024?

BIZZY: LOTS OF NEW MUSIC!
